Mohamed Ihattaren

It’s hard to imagine Mohamed Ihattaren is so young, not many 2002 born players can get close to him in terms of senior matches. PSV have shown faith in their young players and Ihattaren is certainly repaying them.

Ihattaren signed for PSV from his local team, SV Houten, age 8. Normally a top player from that region would go to Ajax but PSV won the battle.

He rose through the ranks and once he turned 16 he rapidly rose through the ranks, he just played three times for Jong PSV before, being put into the PSV first team. Ihattaren has Moroccan routes and is being caught by The Netherlands and Morocco for his national team football.

He stands out with his socks down, gliding around the pitch with the ball almost stuck to his left foot. He has a great touch and technique with the ball, when we look a mastering the ball, Ihattaren has certainly done that. He uses all surfaces of his foot, dragging, flicking and poking the ball around with ease.

Often playing for PSV in the 10 role, picking up pockets of space, moving off the ball with great intelligence. He thinks quickly on the ball, passes really quickly, and seems to make the right call more often than not.

Now at 18 he has made 45 first team appearances, I can imagine at 19, some of Europe’s big clubs may come knocking on PSV’s door with their cheque books open.
