Teddy Jenks

Teddy Jenks has not received the headlines many other of his England youth colleagues have but he has the potential to make a big mark on the game. Teddy made his first team debut for Brighton in September 2019 and also represented England in the U17 Euro’s in the same year.

Teddy was scouted at 8 from grassroots football in Brighton, rising through the age groups with great match effectiveness. Under U18 coach, Mark Beard, he dominated matches and this season has made twelve U23 starts. Teddy has constantly been ahead of the curve at Brighton.

At 16, as a first year scholar he was promoted to train with the first team under Chris Hughton. The then new Brighton manager, Graham Potter handed Teddy Jenks his Brighton debut at 17, starting in the league cup against Aston Villa. Jenks played 82 minutes on his debut in the cup match and Brighton did pretty well in the game, coming up short in the end, with Villa bringing on Jack Grealish to seal the game.

Jenks is a powerful central midfielder, he is currently 6′ 3″ and make his presence felt in the U23 league in England. Teddy has captained England at U15, U16 and U17. He has good ability and great mentality. He is a leader.

As a box to box midfielder he stands out with intelligent passing, good decision and great range. As well as assists he also scores regularly. He is a hard worker, a tireless runner, generating energy for his team. Jenks is right footed and drivers the ball powerfully from deeper positions in the field, he is strong and can be very combative in the central midfield area.

Teddy Jenks has also been a popular member of his school teams which his senior school teacher telling The Athletic he was one of the nicest lads he has worked with at his school. He showed himself to be Humble despite his obvious talent. At school he was also successful in multiple sports and is clearly popular with coaches and teachers.

Jenks could find himself getting minutes with the return for football in 2020 and this will be his chance to grab the headlines he has probably deserved.
