E Camavinga

Eduardo Camavinga’s rise to the top of professional football seems to have been ridiculously rapid. He was put into the Stade Rennais team at 16 making him the first 2002 born player to play in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

He signed for Stade Rennais at U11. Before that he was with a grassroots team to the North East of the City of Rennes. He was born in Angola but his family moved to that area of France age just 2.

In the 19/20 season Eduardo has cemented his place in the team, his confidence and maturity is seeing him boss the midfield against players twice his age. His ball retention is fantastic, he breaks up play, and plays quickly, he rarely ever makes a mistake.

His head is always up, he is constantly scanning, and his passing with his left foot is excellent at all ranges. He is 6′ with good agility and movement skills. He can become a real mountain in midfield.

He can dribble out from the midfield but in general he doesn’t, he likes to keep the ball close. As a player who really seems to enjoy winning and keeping his team organised, it would be good to see him add a driving run from deep, and adding the attack more than he does. This would put him right up there with the best in the World.
