James Garner

James was scouted by Man Utd at the age of 7, despite being Birkenhead (Liverpool country) he has never looked back, signing for the U9s and kicking on from there.

He flew through the ranks and was playing in the U18s at U16 and went on tour with the first team at 17. He was on the bench for the first team in a handful of games before making his debut a few sheets short of his 18th birthday. James came into the England squads at U17 and has represented the U18 and U19s.

Mainly operating as a holding midfielder James, he defends on the front foot, and always tries to nick the ball intercepting a pass. He loves a slide tackle but is also sensible covering for his full backs. He takes up great positions off the ball but is also good on it. As well as being a pretty combative player he has good feet, he is right footed, and can throw in a cut or Cruyff. James likes to drive the ball from box to box and also plays good quick shot passes when breaking up play.

James has developed well but his biggest trouble is breaking into United’s first team with Scott McTominay doing well in a similar role.
