Generally a right winger he has also features for City at CAM and as a striker. He is a small and has a slender build but he balances this as he plays so quickly. Often playing with one or two touches he has a great vision and quick football brain. Ben is left footed and loves nothing more than cutting inside and putting in a lovely cross or rangey pass to the right wing. But equally he can throw in a step over and cut back with his right.
Playing on the right he gives defenders a nightmare as they are not used to a player who can cause so many problems cutting inside. He will also be effective cutting in to score and fits the current City style really well in his ability to affect the game there.
Ben plays in the City 18s and 23s, and his first team appearances have come in pre season. He has been an important part of the England youth teams playing through from 15s-18s. City are blessed in his position but his chance will come as he physically matures. Originally Ben signed for Ipswich, being from Burwell Tigers near Cambridge your choices are limited, and Ben soon became a big name on the academy circuit.
Scouts across England were monitoring Ben’s progress and City decided to invest heavily giving Ipswich a fee which could rise to a reported £1million for the then 16 year old. Will he get the chance to break through?
