Coniah Boyce-Clarke joined Reading’s academy aged 8. His first football was kicking around on a Saturday with his Mum and then went into grassroots football where the children in his team would take it in turn playing in goal. He potential though was spotted and he was signed as a keeper for the U9 season with Reading.
He has gone from strength to strength and signed his first professional contract at Reading in May 2019 but continues to attract admiring glances from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
At 16 he was already 6′ 3″ and combining GCSE’s with U23 football. The talented 17-year-old goalkeeper is targeting a first-team spot at the Madejski Stadium in 20/21. Coniah made his U23s debut aged just 15 and stuck in the team from there.
Coniah also impressed for England at the Val de Marne tournament in France in 2018, winning the Golden Glove award. He’s a big presence in goal, an excellent communicator, and has excellent kicking and throwing.
Most recently, in September, Coniah lifted the Syrenka Cup with England, where he saved two penalties in the shootout, beating hosts Poland.
In 2020 Coniah had his first sniff of first team football making the bench, but as yet has not made his debut. This is a keeper with BIG potential.
